Contact : epigenetics2010@curie.fr

Objectives

To provide an overview of the epigenetic mechanisms and their link to chromatin dynamics. The different functions of the nucleus involving the genome and its organization will be discussed with an emphasis on the technological limits and the new experimental approaches developed today. Links between the disruption of nuclear function and the development of human pathologies will be presented.

Topics

The module is organized in sessions containing two lectures on the following themes:
  • Epigenetics and Chromatin Dynamics

  • Imaging the Nucleus and its functions

  • Silencing, transcriptional landscapes and genomics

  • Memory of transcriptional states

  • Stem cells and reprogramming

  • maintenance of (Epi)genome integrity

  • Epigenetics and Cancer

In addition, during each session students will present scientific articles related to the topics discussed. Students and lecturers will have the opportunity to meet during an informal lunch every day.

Workshops

"Ethical issues” and “Art & Science”
Round table : dedicated to “career development after a Ph. D in Biology” will be organized on Saturday morning (20/03/2010).

Conditions of selection

There are no registration fees.
Travel and accommodation are not covered, but foreign students or French students living outside the Parisian area can apply for fellowships at the time of registration. Selected students will be reimbursed.
